America in the 1920s and 1930s
America in the 1920s America in the 1930s
A two-panel cartoon shows Luigi cheerfully working at a bar in the 1920s, then crying in despair in the 1930s. The joke contrasts the prosperity and optimism associated with the Roaring Twenties with the hardship of the Great Depression, making it useful as a reaction to a sudden economic downturn or collapse.
