Belgium in Europe vs Congo
Belgium in Europe Belgium in the congo
A split-panel meme contrasts a cheerful, colorful cartoon figure representing Belgium in Europe with a dark, grotesque figure representing Belgium in the Congo. The joke refers to Belgium’s brutal colonial rule in the Congo and the stark contrast between its pleasant European image and violent colonial history. It is used as a darkly ironic reaction to hypocrisy, colonialism, or a disturbing historical contrast.
