Coding in Raw Binary
Ridiculous that we're discussing whether or not developers who can't code in raw binary should be allowed into the industry. I spent my first few years in university learning how to code in binary, and it would be an insult to myself and people like me to drop this requirement. I take this back, sorry. People in the comments have mentioned that a much more valuable metric is whether or not you can write CPU instructions by individually wiring the transistors. Clearly I have more learning to do.
A fake Twitter exchange claims that developers should be required to program directly in raw binary. The author then sarcastically retracts the claim after commenters suggest an even more absurd standard: manually wiring transistors to write CPU instructions. It is used as a reaction to gatekeeping, elitism, and exaggerated technical purity.
