The Fork Makes You Inhuman
a story with that cyberpunk theme of “are you really human if you modify your body to gain power”, except the body modification is just strength training. parallel storyline with “these cognitive enhancements are making you INHUMAN and OUT OF TOUCH” but it’s just an education in statistics humans stop being “truly human” and become “cyborgs abominations never intended by god or nature” the moment we pick up a fork or pencil. ... are you some medieval pope? I actually am a pope but not a medieval one.
A dark-mode social media thread humorously compares cyberpunk fears about body modification and cognitive enhancement with ordinary activities like strength training, studying statistics, and using a fork or pencil. The punchline is that if any modification or tool makes someone a cyborg or inhuman, then everyday human behavior qualifies—and the final reply absurdly claims the speaker is a pope, just not a medieval one. It works as a reaction to exaggerated anti-technology or anti-intellectual arguments.
