Merge the Balkan Countries

i’m afraid to tell you this The circled region has too many countries they should merge some of them Estonia Sweden Baltic Sea Latvia Lithuania Russian Federation Belarus Germany Poland Ukraine Czech Republic Slovakia Austria Hungary Romania Moldova Croatia Bosnia and Herzegovina Serbia Bulgaria Montenegro Kosovo Macedonia Greece Italy Adriatic Sea Black Sea Turkey

A map of Eastern and Southeastern Europe shows a red circle around the Balkans, alongside a tweet claiming that the circled region has too many countries and should merge some of them. The joke is that the suggestion is absurdly insensitive and treats many distinct countries, cultures, and histories as if they were interchangeable. It is used as a reaction to an oversimplified geopolitical opinion or an ignorant proposal to merge places.
