NOTHING IS WRITTEN IN STONE
A stone plaque set into a paved walkway says “NOTHING IS WRITTEN IN STONE.” The joke is the literal contradiction: the phrase claiming that nothing is permanent is itself permanently carved into stone, making this useful as an ironic reaction to change or uncertainty.
