Virgin NTSC vs Chad SECAM

The Virgin NTSC Distorted colors Only 480 visible lines Transmits red and blue signals simultaneously, resulting in color artifacts. Weird framerate of 29.97 fps Amplitude modulation for color lol Outside the US it's mainly used by virgin countries, such as Virgin Islands. Needs 3 cables just for composite video, not even talking about component. The Chad SECAM Quality over quantity: Separate Cb and Cr signals gives image low color resolution, but the colors look much better. Besides France, it is the broadcast standard of many nations, such as Chad. Uses same resolution and framerate as PAL, making for easy conversion and staying for use of the same standards for digital media, like DVD's. 576 visible lines Framerate is EXACTLY 25 fps Uses frequency modulation for chrominance signal, very little color distortion as a result. 21-pin SCART cable carries video, audio, and is heavy enough to defend your home against an elephant with. (Hence SECAM's popularity in African countries.)

A comparison chart presents NTSC as a “virgin” old television standard and SECAM as a powerful “Chad” alternative. The joke exaggerates technical differences, mocking NTSC’s color artifacts, awkward framerate, and extra cables while portraying SECAM as superior and absurdly rugged. It is used as a reaction to compare an inferior option with an unexpectedly dominant one.
