Alexa Account Lockout
One of our bank cards declined payment of our Amazon bill (no idea which or why) and now every Alexa device in our house has reset to factory settings. We had to submit the last two digits of our credit card at app login. And now I literally can’t turn off my porch lights until someone manually reviews this and decides if we still get to enjoy the privilege of an Amazon account. Ok it seems our account has been reactivated. But the Alexa devices all seems to require manual setup. I think I’m just going to buy an alarm clock and a light-switch. Here's how Alexa says your name
A dark-mode social media screenshot shows Matthew Green describing how a declined Amazon payment locked his account, reset every Alexa device, and left him unable to control his porch lights until a manual review. After the account is restored, the devices still require manual setup, prompting him to give up on smart-home convenience and buy an alarm clock and light switch. The joke is a sarcastic reaction to frustrating smart-home dependence and overcomplicated account recovery.
