Contemporary Composers Be Like

play this lol contemporary composers these days 😒

A hand holds up an absurdly dense sheet of drum music labeled “play this lol,” then the video cuts to drumsticks, a hair dryer, and a metronome set to an intense tempo before the drummer appears to attack the drum. The fast, chaotic music and mechanical vehicle-like noise sell the joke that contemporary composers write impossible, ridiculously overcomplicated parts for performers. It works as a reaction to pretentious, exhausting, or needlessly complicated modern art and music.
