What it means

A hand-drawn cross-section shows a software project as a strange underground world, with curiosity, usage, UX, documentation, issues, pull requests, and source code arranged at different depths. The joke is that exploring a supposedly simple project leads to increasingly chaotic layers, bugs, warnings, and hidden complexity.
