Astronaut Communicates Through Racist Memes

Text on the meme

People from different countries communicating through racist memes

What it means

An astronaut in a red NASA-style spacesuit crawls and gestures inside a dark, shimmering tunnel or wreckage while the caption frames the scene as people from different countries communicating through racist memes. The absurd contrast between the dramatic space-survival footage and the deliberately provocative caption makes it a dark reaction meme about offensive memes being treated as a universal language. Harry Styles’s melancholic song “Sign of the Times” intensifies the overly dramatic, apocalyptic mood and makes the joke feel grander than the situation deserves.
