Roku Ads Through HDMI
Well, this is incredibly gross: Roku has filed a patent that'd allow them to display ads through your HDMI connection, trying to detect if you've paused, say, your Xbox. Roku explores taking over HDMI feeds with ads
A close-up photo of an HDMI cable appears beneath text about Roku patenting advertisements through an HDMI connection. The joke is outrage at the idea of ads appearing whenever someone pauses an Xbox or other HDMI device, turning a normal cable connection into an intrusive advertising channel. It is shared as a sarcastic reaction to annoying monetization and invasive technology.
