The meme contrasts a dramatic 2000s desktop wallpaper showing muscular figures holding the Earth in space with a minimalist modern wallpaper showing a white silhouette on a purple background. The joke is that computer wallpapers went from over-the-top fantasy imagery to simple, abstract designs, and it is shared nostalgically or ironically when comparing old and current aesthetics.
