The Well Fed Cat

THE WELL FED CAT Joseph, a tabby of 48 pounds, was left a legacy by his owner, Miss Martha Emily Rogers, whom he died in 1909. He is famous in England for both his size and his wealth, which are become of him after he got rich in sausages.

A huge, serious-looking tabby cat is presented in an old illustrated book as “The Well Fed Cat.” The joke is the absurdly formal biography and enormous wealth attributed to an overweight cat, making it suitable as a reaction to someone being excessively pampered or well-fed.
