the deal with those weird refrigerator screens? Why have they started showing them everywhere? Well, here's the real reason. So I was recently at an absolutely terrible and cognitively run, dirty pharmacy that we'll call Walgreens for the sake of this video. Now while I was there I started to take a look at the weird screens they had for refrigerator section. I noticed something interesting about them. Now supposedly the purpose of these screens is to show you ads, right? That's what they're telling you. But you know what else can show you ads? Literally any other surface. It doesn't It doesn't need to reduce the functionality of something in order to show you ads if you just put them on walls. So then that's not it. Let's take a look at the patent. The real purpose of these screens is to use the little camera at the top right here to scan your face and use AI facial expression analysis to judge whether or not you like the packaging designs of the product you're looking for. So you're not the target of the ad, you're the data being sold. Now here's an unrelated cleaning tip. Nail polish is impossible to remove from polycarbonate without ruining the surface due to the solvent in nail polish remover. So make sure you keep it away from stuff like safety goggles, car headlights, webcam lenses, and compact lenses, unless you want to ruin them.
