Listening to Disk Progress
Before SSDs, I’d listen to the disk as a complimentary indicator of progress where progress bars fail.
A humorous tweet about listening to the hard drive while waiting for a task to finish before SSDs became common. The joke treats the disk’s sounds as an unofficial progress bar, making it suitable as a nostalgic reaction to slow loading or outdated technology.
