Public Fruit Trees in 2030
it’s 2030. i’m running late for the bus, no time for breakfast. but then I remember the public fruit trees the council planted to shade the sidewalk years ago. it’s late summer, and so the apples and apricots are ripe. I grab two of each and keep moving, reminded how simple it is to design systems that nourish us all
A social media post imagines a person in 2030 rushing to catch a bus and grabbing ripe fruit from public trees planted along the sidewalk. The joke is a hopeful vision of urban planning that makes free, healthy food available to everyone, contrasting with the usual dystopian future meme.
