Olympic Feast Confusion
The reason Christians were so confused as to think the Olympic opening celebration was "The Last Supper," instead of a celebration of The Feast of Dionysus, was because they were seeing in real time how Christianity stole imagery and stories from other older pantheons.
A blue-painted performer reclines at a lavish flower-covered table surrounded by costumed people during the Olympic opening ceremony. The joke claims that Christians mistook the scene for The Last Supper because Christianity allegedly borrowed imagery and stories from older pagan mythologies. It is used as a sarcastic reaction to debates about the ceremony’s religious symbolism and cultural appropriation.
