A young man explains that scientists supposedly created a five-element compound that could make toilets smoother and easier to clean. The clip ends by presenting the absurdly named “SK Bi Dy toilet,” a pun on “Skibidi toilet” and the chemical symbols for sulfur, potassium, bismuth, iodine, and dysprosium. It is a deadpan science-news parody meant as an absurd reaction to overhyped inventions.
Did scientists just invent a new material for building toilets? Let's dive in. Well, not... Not... anyway. Now, most toilets are made out of porcelain, which is great, but it's not perfect. You know, it looks good, it's durable, it's easy to clean, but right there is the problem. You have to clean it still. And no one likes cleaning their toilet. I certainly don't. In fact, it's the least liked household chore. So the question is, is there a material with all of the best qualities of porcelain, but with an even smoother surface such that our waste can't stick to it. And I'm happy to say... Yes. A team of chemists at Johns Hopkins University has just patented a brand new compound that they say will revolutionize the world of plumbing. The compound is composed of five elements, a combination of metals and non-metals. Sulphur, potassium, iodine, bismuth, and dysprosium. The team is saying that this molecule is so effective and non-stick that it'll define a completely new era. Now they don't have a name for the compound just yet, but the Skibbity toilet will soon be available.
