It Is What It Is Ryan Gosling
me having the most soul destroying day of my life ”it is what it is”
A fast-cut video montage of Ryan Gosling looking devastated, emotionally numb, and then calmly carrying on through different film scenes. The caption contrasts an utterly soul-destroying day with the detached phrase “it is what it is,” making the joke a reaction to accepting terrible circumstances without trying to fix them. Tame Impala’s psychedelic pop song “The Less I Know the Better” adds a dreamy, bittersweet mood that makes the resigned punchline feel stylish and ironically upbeat.
