CIA Guy Makes a Nettspend Beat
CIA guy genuinely makes a nettspend beat layered plucks
A serious-looking man in a suit explains how he built a Nettspend-style beat in a music production program, while clips of Joe Rogan and the speaker play below. The joke comes from treating absurdly simple trap-production steps as an elaborate CIA/Afghanistan story, ending with the beat being played loudly.
And so I was stationed in Afghanistan and they said to me, they said, John, we need you to make a Net Spen type beat. And so I did and I remember I started with these three layered plucks to kind of get a groove going. And then I added this sort of alarm that plays, but it's still on key, so it still sounds good. And after that I thought I needed some kind of lead to make it a bit more catchy. So I added one. And so Net Spen beats are very complex. So what I did is I added a lot of simple patterns layered. So after I had finished the melody, the Afghan embassy said to me that they needed Really hard drums. So I did what I always do and I kept it simple. And generally for these type of beats, you just want to really loud 808. And that's pretty much it. Jamie, play that beat.
