Linux Handles Age Verification
SystemD has added birth date storage in order to comply with Brazil and California Age Verification laws. Let that sink in. A Linux init system now handles Age Verification. github.com/systemd/system... userdb: add birthDate field to JSON user records #40954 Stores the user's birth date for age verification, as required by recent laws in California (AB-1043), Colorado (SB26-051), Brazil (Lei 15.211/2025), etc.
A screenshot jokes that systemd, the Linux init system, has added birth-date storage to comply with age-verification laws. The punchline is the absurd contrast between low-level system software and handling users’ ages, reinforced by the GitHub issue screenshot. It is sent as a reaction to bureaucratic overreach, unexpected software responsibilities, or ironic technical news.
