Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want
for a change turn bad Please, Please, Please this time.
A series of clips shows monkeys interacting with an orangutan plush toy and other stuffed-animal figures, shifting between tender cuddling and sudden rough behavior. The captions build a mock plea for affection—“for a change,” then “turn bad,” followed by “Please, Please, Please” and “this time”—while The Smiths’ wistful indie rock song makes the animals’ chaotic actions feel melodramatic and heartbreakingly sincere. It works as a reaction meme for repeatedly hoping someone or something will finally go differently, only for the situation to become absurd or go wrong.
