Motorola 68040 Without a CPU
Motorola produced versions of the 68040 for many different computing purposes. The 68LC040 which lacked an FPU, the 68EC040 which had neither MMU or FPU, and the 68NC040 pictured here which lacked a CPU entirely.
A post explains different Motorola 68040 variants and shows a chip package with its central silicon area missing, leaving only the frame and pins. The joke is that the fictional 68NC040 takes cost-cutting to the extreme by lacking a CPU entirely.
