A terminal user searches a diary file for the word “end” and finds the ominous line, “This is probably going to end horribly but who cares?” The joke is a self-aware, fatalistic reaction to making a reckless or questionable decision despite expecting bad consequences. It is commonly sent as a reaction when someone knowingly proceeds with something that will likely go wrong.
