Cyberpunk Manhole Cover Inspection
This is a screen shot from the video game Cyberpunk 2077. It was plagued with bugs, glitches and errors from its release - but this specific error makes it unplayable for me. The (German) manhole cover on this road (and all others in the game) clearly displays a DIN 4721 ref, which carries a Class B125 rating. This is the wrong standard as its maximum capacity is unfit for usage on roads. B125 manhole-covers are only certified for weights up to 12,500kg and usually only certified for pavements, pedestrian zones, and car parking areas for small cars. The requisite specification for the manhole cover, in this instance, ought to have been one with a D400 rating, which possesses a certification for load-bearing capacity in excess of 400,00kg. It is deemed appropriate for deployment within vehicular carriageways, pedestrian thoroughfares, verges adjacent to roadways, as well as car parks. Male, 34, ranked Global Champion number 75 on Rainbow 6 Siege, strong interest in farm machinery. DIN 4721
A screenshot from Cyberpunk 2077 shows a road with a manhole cover marked “DIN 4721.” The joke is that the narrator treats a minor video-game detail as a serious engineering failure, obsessively explaining the incorrect load rating and revealing an absurdly specific personality profile. It is used as a reaction to pedantic complaints, hyperfixation, or taking an insignificant detail far too seriously.
