Trolley Problem Moral Math
Would it be fair to the people the trolley has already killed to divert it now?
A trolley is approaching a group of people on the track, while several people already lie dead along the other track. The joke applies trolley-problem logic absurdly, suggesting that diverting the trolley now would be unfair to those it has already killed. It is used as a darkly humorous reaction to rationalizing continued harm because changing course would make past losses seem meaningless.
