Quadratic Formula Footnote
We now present the quadratic formula: x = (−b ± √(b² − 4ac)) / 2a ²This footnote should also be treated as an exponent.
A textbook presents the quadratic formula, but a highlighted superscript 2 in the formula is humorously explained by a footnote saying that the footnote marker itself should also be treated as an exponent. The joke comes from recursively applying the mathematical instruction beyond reason, making it useful as a reaction to pedantic or overly literal explanations.
