The Last of Us Return of the King
The outbreak in The Last of Us happened right before the theatrical release of Return of the King. Fucking bleak, man. Imagine not seeing Theoden charge on the fields of Pelennor.
A dark-mode tweet laments that the outbreak in The Last of Us occurred just before the theatrical release of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The joke is that surviving a zombie apocalypse would mean missing Théoden’s iconic charge at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields; it is used to express exaggerated despair about missing something important.
