White House Memory Safe Report Taken Down
Whitehouse press release "Future software should be memory safe" is taken down 🗞️ news I was searching for that report to share it with a colleague and noticed that the report is gone. What could it mean to rust and other memory safe languages that it talked about? I read elsewhere that few other pages are gone too. 🍿🍿 It was found here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/oncd/briefing-room/2024/02/26/press-release-technical-report/ Archived at: https://web.archive.org/web/20250118014817/https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Final-ONCD-Technical-Report.pdf
A Reddit post reports that a White House press release recommending memory-safe software has disappeared from the official website. The author worries about what its removal means for Rust and other memory-safe programming languages, while sharing archived links as evidence. It is used as a tech-reaction meme about suspicious link removals, disappearing documentation, and government software policy.
