Afghanistan 9/11 Misunderstanding
I remember I was 10 I was living in Moscow. When the other kids learned I had come there from Afghanistan, one of them pulled up a video of 9/11 and gave me a thumbs up like he was proud of me.
A tweet recounts a darkly awkward childhood misunderstanding: a child in Moscow shows the narrator, who came from Afghanistan, a video of 9/11 and gives him a thumbs-up as if he were responsible or proud of the attack. The joke comes from the ignorant association between Afghanistan and 9/11, making the gesture unintentionally offensive and absurd.
