Free Will Page 56
Page 56 As you journey along the path you meet an old man. He tells you that modern neuroscience has proved that all our actions and decisions are merely the machinations of a predetermined universe and that our concept of 'free will' is naught but a comforting illusion. If you agree with his hypothesis, turn to page 72 If you disagree, turn to page 72
A black-and-white illustrated choose-your-own-adventure page shows a traveler meeting an old man on a path. The old man argues that free will is an illusion because the universe is predetermined, but both agreeing and disagreeing send the reader to page 72. The joke is a deterministic philosophical paradox used as an absurd reaction to situations where every choice leads to the same outcome.
