THE LAW OF FUTUROLOGY: y - t = 0 y = approximate number of years left in the life of a futurist t = years futurist thinks it will be until immortality is discovered THINGS ARE GONNA CHANGE IN 60-70 YEARS. THINGS ARE GONNA CHANGE IN 30-40 YEARS. THINGS ARE GONNA CHANGE BY 3PM TOMORROW.
A three-panel cartoon shows the same futurist aging from a cheerful young man to an elderly person. Each version predicts that major changes will happen sooner, ending with the absurd claim that everything will change by 3 PM tomorrow. The joke mocks futurists whose predictions become increasingly urgent and unreliable as their remaining lifespan shrinks.
