Listening to a Catfish Confession
me listening to my friend talk about how excited he is to meet his beloved online girlfriend in person for their 7 year anniversary(she’s actually a catfish account made by me)
Patrick Bateman gives an awkward, guilty smile while listening to his friend enthusiastically describe meeting his online girlfriend, unaware that the account is a catfish created by Bateman. The joke is the contrast between the friend’s romantic excitement and the cruel secret being hidden, making it useful as a reaction to secretly causing or knowing about someone else’s impending embarrassment.
