Bateman Gets Hugged
me watching the hatred and psychotic thoughts exit my body the second she hugs me (I hadn't been touched lovingly in months) (I had forgotten I was human)
A suited Patrick Bateman from American Psycho stares tensely and glances around as the caption describes his hatred and psychotic thoughts leaving his body when a woman hugs him. The joke contrasts his violent, emotionally detached persona with the unexpectedly humanizing comfort of affection, making it a reaction to finally receiving warmth after emotional isolation. Mareux’s dark synth-pop song “The Perfect Girl” plays over the clip, creating a moody, ironic atmosphere that heightens the contrast between Bateman’s disturbing persona and his vulnerable reaction.
