Having a Girlfriend in My Dreams
having a girlfriend: having a girlfriend in my dreams:
A rapid montage contrasts Ryan Gosling’s brooding, lonely characters in real-life scenes with more romantic or cinematic dreamlike moments, repeatedly labeled “having a girlfriend” and “having a girlfriend in my dreams:”. The joke is that having a girlfriend is portrayed as bleak and emotionally painful, while the imagined version is dramatically idealized. The video is set to Dominic Knight — Kerts Boat (feat. deriana ferasiata), whose moody electronic music heightens the melodramatic contrast and makes the joke work as a lonely reaction meme.
