American vs Russian Apocalypse Games
American apocalyptic games Russian apocalyptic games
A two-panel comparison contrasts an American apocalyptic game, showing a cheerful blond cartoon character in front of a nuclear mushroom cloud, with a Russian apocalyptic game, showing a bleak landscape and a grim, weary character. The joke is that American apocalypse fiction is presented as colorful and adventurous, while Russian apocalypse fiction is portrayed as gloomy, depressing and harsh. People send it as a reaction to compare optimistic and entertaining disaster scenarios with bleak post-Soviet survival settings.
