The Rent Reducer 9000
The Rent Reducer 9000: A gun in a box disguising it as a free little library. A raspberry pi scrapes Zillow for open houses nearby. During open house hours, it tells a starter pistol/cap gun to fire a few times. Seen here at an art thing I brought it to.
A homemade device disguises a gun as a free little library and uses a Raspberry Pi to find nearby Zillow open houses, firing a starter pistol during viewing hours. The joke is an absurd anti-gentrification prank meant to scare off potential home buyers and reduce housing demand. It is shared as a reaction to high rent, real-estate speculation, and ridiculous DIY solutions.
