Eastern Europeans Can't Be Depressed
“Life is beautiful. How can you be depressed!?” EASTERN EUROPEANS:
A bald, wide-eyed man in a white shirt stares intensely into the camera while bleak Eastern European scenery changes behind him: gray skies, industrial infrastructure, military trucks, and a dilapidated house. The joke is that the harsh, gloomy surroundings are presented as the reason Eastern Europeans supposedly cannot be depressed because their everyday environment is already absurdly depressing. The clip uses 405Okced — “Creelles Town” (feat. Lucas Boato De Souza), an electronic/phonk-style track whose dark, dramatic mood intensifies the deadpan reaction and bleak punchline.
