Ancient Assyrian End of the World
"The earth is degenerating today. Bribery and corruption abound. Children no longer obey their parents, every man wants to write a book, and it is evident that the end of the world is fast approaching." - Assyrian tablet, c. 2800 BC "It's so over"
The meme shows an ancient clay tablet beside an illustrated Assyrian warrior holding a shield and spear. The tablet complains about corruption, disobedient children, and social decline, while the warrior says, “It’s so over.” The joke is that people have been predicting the end of civilization for thousands of years, making modern complaints about society seem timeless and exaggerated.
