Detached State Tree Pun
Day four of no power and no Internet. This big tree is the reason. One among hundreds in the area, but this is the one that took out *our* power and Internet. PGE (Portland General Electric) claims we should get power back by 10pm today, but the ice storm arrives today, so we'll see. I believe that tree is in a detached state.
Linus Torvalds posts about a fallen tree blocking a snowy road and causing a power and Internet outage. The reply makes a Linux joke by calling the tree “detached,” referring to Git’s detached HEAD state and the tree being physically separated from its roots. It is used as a witty tech reaction to outages, broken infrastructure, or clever wordplay.
