CTO Hates Microsoft
Engineers: Let's use C# CTO: I don't like Microsoft This is the first thing that came to my mind after reading op's question. I joined a late stage startup company as the principal engineer, and I met with the engineers and we unanimously agreed to use c# for web apps, desktop apps (WPF, ios, Android Mobile apps via xamarin and we are about to write our embedded Linux application using .net core. It's great and we are happy with that decision and everybody is productive because almost everyone had an experience on c# and those who don't, are very eager to learn c#. A CTO joined in and he hated c# because it's Microsoft. He wanted the web app written in java, the desktop app written to c++ Qt, the ios & Android mobile app written in flutter, and our embedded Linux apps in golang. That's a lot of technology to learn for a small team. Almost everyone resigned, only 1 engineer (the only one who is working 100% remotely) was left and not sure if that guy is still there.
The meme contrasts engineers agreeing on a practical C# technology stack with a CTO who rejects it simply because Microsoft made it. He replaces each component with a different language or framework, overwhelming the small team until nearly everyone resigns. It is used as a sarcastic reaction to ideological technology decisions and poor engineering management.
