The Emus Are Watching Australia
Russia: Invades Ukraine China: Sends aircraft to Taiwan The emus: 120°E 140°E Indian Ocean Darwin 20°S Tropic of Capricorn AUSTRALIA Perth Adelaide
A stern-looking emu in a yellow jacket peeks from behind a tree beside a map of Australia. The joke references Russia invading Ukraine and China sending aircraft toward Taiwan, implying that Australia’s emus are quietly preparing for another conflict after the historic Emu War. It is used as an absurd reaction to geopolitical escalation or to jokingly suggest that emus are a dangerous military power.
