Go Unions Rejected by Management
One night it was revealed to me in a vision that Go was supposed to have unions until upper management heard the word being said out loud and threatened to fire all the people involved.
A tweet jokes that the Go programming language was once meant to support unions. The punchline treats “unions” as labor unions, imagining management threatening programmers with termination for organizing. It is shared as a reaction to corporate hostility toward both programming features and worker rights.
