Large Tech Companies in a Nutshell
Alex Graveley Large tech companies in a nutshell. I got denied Director, which I was promised if I shipped Copilot (team of 8), with no reason given. I left a few months later. Dave Anderson I know this for a fact: If you ask a random HR Partner if a person is ready for promotion to Director, do you know what they're going to ask first? "How many people are reporting to them?" T... I work in tech imagine shipping copilot and then some promo committee being like “naw didn’t show enough impact in current role”, this is actually insane
A screenshot of a social media thread discusses a tech worker being denied a promised Director promotion after shipping Copilot with a team of eight. The joke is that large companies judge promotion readiness by managerial headcount instead of actual impact, making the situation absurd and frustrating. It is shared as a reaction to corporate bureaucracy, unfair promotion processes, and tech industry absurdity.
