Virgin Journal Article vs Chad Blog Post

The Virgin Journal Article paper's primary purpose is to increase publication count references section is a complete afterthought leaves landmark or seminal works uncited citation pruning [??] [??] results section conclusions? improvement over prior work, not an exploration least publishable unit (LPU) questionable evaluation section shunned submission to most conference deadline use of mathematical notation for no apparent reason informs the main project and only then gives the paper pipeline that people marginally relates to past work ignores readers' emails doesn't explain technical terms, because "anybody that's taught in know that" "scientific method" and will behave however object otherwise methods section is intentionally vague to deter researchers from attempting to reproduce, avoids sharing source code at all costs references behind a paywall, you have to use sci-hub THE CHAD BLOG POST writes to advance research and to help others get involved. references contain thoughtful, hand-picked suggestions that reflect care and attention, aiding readers who wish to solidify their background highlights important past works introduction is accessible to anyone in the discipline and catches them up to speed; anyone can understand it, yet remains interesting to those who are already familiar by providing a fresh contextualization of the research writes with a sense of humility, not patient updates their work, and tells the story of how it fits into the big picture. creates a big, complex piece of knowledge that is great to be in the accessible, engaging documentation for everyone Ouch! evaluation is nuanced and leaves room for bias, and provides an informed and well-reasoned argument, cast a publicly available explains using terms that everyone understand with analogies and examples, doesn't shy away from notation where appropriate, but provides definitions publishes only "when it is ready", polished, and demonstrates close attention to detail actively helps readers to get it to work everything is just a hyperlink away is a literal tutorial, shares PoC, source code, documentation on GitHub for everyone to use and learn from. Doesn't own claim to be part of academia, still gets cited anyways
