The Whiterun Guard Remembers You

Whiterun Guard : Dragonborn! Can we just have a moment? Whiterun Guard : And then you then saved us from the world eater, Alduin. Whiterun Guard : Look at what you have done, what you have accomplished in all that time. Whiterun Guard : And in that time, your life had become an open world game. Whiterun Guard : And it's been difficult along the way too. Experiencing the hardships of love and loss, you know? Whiterun Guard : I guess what I wanted to say to you Dovahkiin Whiterun Guard : You look great by the way. Whatever it is you're doing, it's working.

A Whiterun Guard in Skyrim gives the Dragonborn an unexpectedly emotional speech about their adventures, disappearance, and life outside the game. The joke is that a generic NPC treats the player’s years away from Skyrim like a personal relationship, turning a nostalgic game reunion into a heartfelt life check-in. It works as a reaction for returning to an old game or reflecting on how much life has changed. Dragonborn, can we just have a moment? Do you remember when you first came to White Run all those years ago? I told you to speak to the Yarl to get help about the dragons. You then ran off to do some quests. You got stronger and then you then saved us from the world eater all doing. After when you saved us fought some vampires went to Soul Stain. Then just one day you left us. Can we just talk about that for just a second? Great, because that was kind of abrupt. You got up and moved on to other games. Which is great, because you got to experience other worlds, their lore and save their world from an impending doom. But now, look at you, look at what you have done, what you have accomplished in all that time. It's just so amazing, right? I mean, you started your Skyrim adventure many years ago. Truth be told Dragonborn, Skyrim's 10th birthday is very soon, and in that time, your life had become an open world game. You may have gone into higher education, started a full time job, become a full time parent or explored your own world. And it's been difficult along the way too, experiencing the hardships of love and loss, you know. Of course you know. But I wanted you to know, I hope Skyrim had helped you in some way throughout your life. Whether it was through the good times or bad times, I guess what I wanted to say to you Dovahki, after all these years, I never forgot you, ever, and I am super glad you've came back. Thanks for listening to me. You look great by the way, whatever it is you're doing.
