Fired by Apple for Blurring
I was fired by Apple today. Me and my design team have spent the last 18 months tirelessly testing different levels of gaussian blur on backgrounds when foreground elements are in focus. A fake social media post claims that a designer was fired by Apple after spending 18 months testing increasingly specific blur effects for interface backgrounds. The reply, “Thanks for the transparency,” is a pun about both honesty and transparent UI design, mocking Apple’s glassmorphism aesthetic and corporate design jargon.
