Amy Hennig and Druckmann Irony
Just a reminder that Naughty Dog let Amy Hennig go in order to keep Druckmann. >Amy Hennig is consider one of the best writers in the industry >when she was young she wanted to work in vidya but she had a degree in English literature >so she became an animator and an artist to get her foot in the door >after working on several games she manges to become a game designer while also doing most of the writing for her games >she wrote the Legacy of Kain series >she directed and wrote for Uncharted 1-3 >game journalists often try to goad her into saying the vidya industry is sexist >but she has always pushed back against that >she said it was usually men who helped her and gave her opportunities >she said she thinks the claims about the vidya industry being sexist are exaggerated >then she suddenly quits while working on Uncharted 4 >insiders claim she was basically forced out because Druckmann didn't like her >Druckmann takes over and immediately starts trying to make Naughty Dog's writing more "progressive" >he makes Ellie a lesbian with a black girlfriend in the TLU DLC >Druckmann then throws out Amy's entire Uncharted 4 script even though it was supposedly almost done >he makes the studio go into crunch mode to make the changes he wanted >the game gets delayed multiple times because it goes through a complete rewrite >the result is a mediocre game with a terrible story >Druckmann also pushed to remove the Fat Nate costume because it was "offensive" >Druckmann is now going around bragging about what a good defender of women he is Take a moment and let the incredible irony of this situation sink in
The meme presents a long, imageboard-style argument contrasting Amy Hennig’s writing career and reported departure from Naughty Dog with Neil Druckmann’s later creative decisions and public image as a defender of women. The punchline is the alleged hypocrisy: the post claims Druckmann pushed Hennig out and rewrote Uncharted 4, while presenting himself as progressive and supportive of women. It is meant as a sarcastic reaction to discussions about Naughty Dog, Uncharted, sexism, and Druckmann’s writing.
